The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Ismail Falgore, handed over to the Kano State Governor, Engineer Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the revised budget approved by the Kano State Legislative Assembly after presenting it to the Assembly.
The Speaker of the Assembly handed over the document yesterday Friday at the Kano State Government House which was visited by him and some of the members of the Assembly.
If we don't forget, the governor of Kano has submitted a budget of 58 billion naira to the state Assembly so that it will allow him to carry out projects for the community with the money.
The Majority Leader of Kano House, Hon Cediyar 'Yan Gurasa, "said" this money sent by the governor is money that the governor himself collected within 6 months in the account of the state government.
He said that now the money is deposited in the account and the work will start.
He also said that according to the law, the governor cannot spend money until the parliament approves the reason why the governor sent it so that it is approved even though the money he has collected is kept.
"There will be big applications with this money in Kano state when the new budget for 2024 is presented," said the Majority Leader of the Kano House of Assembly.
He also praised the efforts of the governor for collecting this money.
The governor of Kano state, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed the budget for 2023 which amounts to fifty eight billion, one hundred and ninety one million, five hundred and thirty five thousand, eighteen naira, and twelve kobo (N58, 191, 535, 018.12).
While presenting the budget, the Governor assured the people of Kano state that his government will follow the rules of budget management so that the allocated funds will be used honestly and fairly.
He also praised the efforts of the Commissioner of Budget and Financial Planning to speed up the implementation of the budget document for the state assembly.
Earlier, the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore who led the senior leaders presented the motion for approval at the Kano state government house.
The governor also requested that there be continued support and good relations between the executive branch and the legislative branch in Kano state.
