The new minister, Abbas Balarabe, said that he fell down when he was being assessed in the senate because he was tired because he had to work too much on the night of his assessment.

Speaking to the media, the minister-designate said he learned of his appointment on Tuesday and spent the night preparing for his big day.

According to Balarabe, the truth is that I was tired when I heard about yesterday's primary election and I came from Kaduna to Abuja to prepare for this assessment, that is what prevented me from getting a break.

There are a lot of things to do that I attend to during the night so that in the morning I can make sure that I have completed everything.

What happened today is the result of sheer exhaustion and fatigue in collecting very important information during the negotiations.

I want to thank the Senate for their understanding, especially the senators of my state (Kaduna) who have all gathered since yesterday and the team of doctors who took care of me.

I am fine now, nothing is wrong with me.  What I experienced was pure exhaustion which can happen to anyone.
