Nigerian Police force has employed 50 converted thugs in Kano

 


BBC reports that the Nigerian Police Force in Kano state has released 50 reformed thugs who have been recruited as police officers in the state after completing two months of training.

 A statement from the spokesman of the force, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said that the people were selected are from Municipal, Dala, Ungoggo, Gwale, and Fagge local governments, where 10 people were selected each.


 Speaking on Monday in Kano, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, said that 222 thugs have surrendered and surrendered their weapons in the city.

 Kano city has experienced an increase in gang fights and phone snatching by armed youths especially in the middle months of 2023, according to the police.

 "This is an order from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu, who has given all police forces to work hard to implement security together with the community," said the commissioner.
