Terrorists Group Continues to attract young people in Birnin Gwari LG of Kaduna State

In a report collected by the BBC, residents of some of the local government areas of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State have complained about the way Ansaru terrorists continue to attract young people and invade their towns.

The people of the area said that the Ansarun took time to recruit the youth and join them in the group, either by using the tactics of attraction or by force, which increases the security problem in the area.

Some residents of the area said that now towns such as Gandu village, Old Kuyello and Gajere neighborhood are all under the control of Ansaru group.

A resident of Layin Lasan said, "Now the main thing that is disturbing people is that the Ansarun came to the town of Layin Lasan and they showed that they want to return to live in the town but people showed their disbelief.  At the moment there is a lot of tension because people don't know what will go and come back since they said no matter how hard they entered the town.

The Ansaruns have also entered the Son's Line neighborhood in Birnin Gwari local government where they also announced their intention to involve the youth in them and take power in the area, as a resident of the village told the BBC.

Despite this threat, the residents of the area said that there are currently no security forces that can prevent the Ansaru from attacking or invading their villages.

However, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force in Kaduna State, ASP Mansur Hassan, said that the force has defeated the militants in previous years and this time it will do everything necessary to get rid of them and provide security to the people.

He said, "We once went and fought these people, three to four years ago where we killed at least 200 people among them.  Efforts are being made but this is something that we will not go to the media and say because it is confidential information.''

The people of Birnin Gwari Local Government in Kaduna State, and the neighboring Funtua in Katsina State have been struggling with the attacks of bandits linked to the Ansaru group, and the attacks and kidnappings are increasing in the areas.
