The 14th emir of kano the Khalifa Tijjaniyya sect of Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been included in the list of influential Muslims in the world that are published every year.
Among the people published are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; The Sultan and Chairman of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; and 12 other Nigerian Muslims were included in the list of 500 most influential Muslims in the world.
This is the first time that Tinubu, who became the president of Nigeria this year, has been included in the annual book of the Royal Institute of Islamic Studies, Amman, Jordan, according to Aminiya newspaper.
However, his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, who used to appear on the list, is not included even though the Sultan of Islam is on the list of the 50 most famous people.
Also listed is the chief imam of the Ansar Ud-Deen group of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, who has been prominent in the list since 2016 when he entered the competition.
The book in its 15th edition has declared Shaykh Habib Umar bin Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz, the Director of Darul-Mustafa of Yemen as the most influential Muslim leader in the world and the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as the second. The most influential Muslim while the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ayatollah Hajj Sayyid Ali Khamenei is in third place.
This is as shown by the number of Muslims in the world at 2,074, 718,394.
The book comments on people who are influential as Muslims and how through their influence they were able to benefit the community in the Muslim world and in terms of representing Islam to non-Muslims.
In addition to the Sultan and HE Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini, the president of the Supreme Council of Fatwa and Islamic affairs in Nigeria, who were listed in the first 50 that came out number 18 and 45, the remaining 450 were classified into Education; Administration of Religious Affairs; Preachers and Religious Leaders; Social issues; Business and Sponsorship, Charity and Development, etc.
In Nigeria, Tinubu who is the new one listed under the category of political leaders while the chairman of the Dangote group of companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is the only Nigerian listed in the business category.
Others listed include Sheikh Tahir Usman Bauchi; Imam Muhammad Ashafa; HE Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini; Sheikh Yakubu Musa Katsina, Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, and Sheikh Ibrahim Zazzky.
