The Supreme Court has upheld the five-year sentence handed down to former Member of Parliament Farouk Lawan for accepting a $500,000 bribe from businessman Femi Otedola.
Lawan was tried for the crime of accepting a bribe of 500,000 dollars during an investigation by members of parliament on the fuel subsidy system in 2012.
Lawan's lawyer has requested that the decision of the Court of Appeal in Abuja be set aside on February 24, 2022, which sentenced him to five years in prison and acquitted him on two of the three charges against him. and the crime of corruption committed against him by the federal government.
Farouk Lawan is a former Member of The house of Representatives who represented Bagwai and Shanono of Kano state.
