A petition has been sent to the Kano State Assembly asking for the dissolution of the four emirates and the return of Sanusi ll as Emir of Kano

Now a group called "Yan Dangwale of Kano State" has written a petition to the Kano State House of Assembly asking for the annulment of the law establishing four additional emirates including Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi, which were established by the previous government, and requesting  restore the 14th Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The group's explanation comes in a letter dated February 5, 2024, sent to the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, in which it said that the abolition of the monarchy and the restoration of Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano "will create unity,  peace and stability across Kano state.

Kadaura24 newspaper reported that the text of the letter says:

"We wrote the letter to ask this parliament to amend the Kano state kingdom law, we want the law to be amended in such a way that the four new kingdoms that were created in the past years will be abolished.

The letter went on to say, "We believe that if the kingdoms are united and become one kingdom, there will be better unity and development of the people of Kano".

"And the destruction of the four Gusa kingdoms will improve the peace and economy of Kano State, so we are asking this house to do what it says according to the law".

The letter added, "We accept the authority of the Kano State House of Assembly over the administration of the kingdom."
