While speaking at a meeting to mourn the death of a former bank officer who died in a plane crash with his family in America, the 14th King of Kano said he was shocked to hear the news of the death of Mr. Wigwe who played a great role in his life.
"I thought I was going to die before Mr. Herbert. we all know his kindness and obedience,'' said Muhammadu Sanusi ll, when he spoke, his voice full of sorrow.
He said the former officer of Acces Bank promised him support when he was removed from power.
The former governor of the CBN said at that time Mr. Herbert even arranged for a plane for him to take him from Kano to Lagos.
"When I had a problem in Kano, six months before I was released, I called him and told him the situation, and I said to him, 'Herbert, I know how much you are trying to solve this problem, but I know I will be released.''
"Then he said to me, "Your Highness, don't worry. whatever happens don't worry we are with you. The day I heard the announcement on the radio that I had been released, I called him and told him I wanted to go to Lagos.
"The announcement was made at about 9:00 in the morning, in the afternoon Herbert arranged a flight for me at the Kano airport, but at that time it was arranged that I would be exiled for many years. put my family on the plane and send them to Lagos, I didn't call him, but he welcomed them and dropped them off at a hotel, before later giving them an environment, where they spent months living before I returned to Lagos to continue stay with my family''.
Muhammdu Sanusi ll also said that Mr. Herbert promised to take care of his travels after returning to Lagos and settling down.
